Chulucanas Ceramics

Using ancient techniques developed nearly 2,000 years ago, the artist families of Chulicanas, Peru have revived the ceramic art of their ancestors. Hand-burnished with volcanic rock and painted in earthen tones displaying a positive-negative schematic, Chulicanas potters began by making fruit and animal shapes and utilitarian pieces.  Later they added human figures typical of the local culture and environment.
