Haitian Metal Bird Wall Art — Set of 5 with 3-D Wings
Bring a flock of handmade Haitian metal birds to your wall. This set of five flying birds is handcrafted in Haiti from recycled 55-gallon steel oil drums, cut and shaped with hammer and chisel by master artisan Cineus Louime and the craftsmen of his workshop.
Cineus trained and worked for years in Croix-des-Bouquets, the historic center of Haitian metal drum art. Like many artisans from the area, he and his workshop have recently relocated due to the security situation in the region. We share his work with pride while protecting his and his team's safety, so his current location remains private. What hasn't changed is the craft: each piece is still made the traditional way, by hand, from reclaimed steel.
Each bird measures about 6 inches and has a small hole in the wing for hanging. The wing on every bird is bendable — gently angle it away from the body and your flat metal birds take on real dimension and movement. Arrange them in flight, soaring toward each other, or scattering across the wall. One set, dozens of possibilities.
Display them indoors on an accent wall, or outside on a fence, shed, or garden post. They look striking grouped together, but they're just as happy mixed into a larger arrangement with other Haitian metal pieces to tell a story across your wall. Try tying one onto a wrapped gift with ribbon, or tucking a few into a holiday wreath for a nature-inspired touch.
Each piece is Fair Trade, so your purchase directly supports Cineus and his workshop. Because every bird is handmade from reclaimed steel, expect subtle variations in finish and detail — the signature of a one-of-a-kind piece.
