Large Voodoo Sculpture with Veves & Haitian Gods
Size: 34" x 28"
Signed by Jn Charles Eneld
-
Papa Legba — Guardian of the crossroads.
His Veve (a cross-like shape with radiating lines) spreads across the sculpture’s base. He is depicted with a cane and straw hat, opening the spiritual gate as the angel calls. -
Erzulie Freda — Spirit of love and beauty.
Her heart-shaped Veve curls into floral motifs. Her figure is graceful, with flowing lines and delicate metal filigree. -
Ogou (Ogoun) — Warrior and blacksmith.
His Veve is sharp and angular, echoing the forge. His form stands strong with a machete and shield, flames subtly etched behind him. -
Baron Samedi — Spirit of death and rebirth.
His top hat, skeletal grin, and cross-insignia Veve are etched in bold strokes. He appears playful yet powerful, as is his nature.
Each lwa is rendered not realistically but symbolically—stylized in the expressive, spirited language of Haitian metal art. Their forms seem to emerge from the metal itself, as if living inside it.
