This vintage huipil from Colotenango, Guatemala is a beautiful example of traditional Mayan weaving. Handwoven on a backstrap loom, it features a richly patterned central panel with finely striped side panels in a classic Colotenango design.
The geometric motifs reflect cultural symbolism and skilled craftsmanship, with balanced colors and precise weaving that indicate an experienced artisan. Huipils of this complexity often took months to complete.
With open sides, this piece can be worn, framed as textile art, or used as a decorative accent. A highly collectible and authentic Guatemalan textile.
