Vintage Guatemalan Huipil – Santiago Atitlán Inspired with Bird Motifs 32" wide x 21" long
This authentic vintage huipil from Guatemala is a one-of-a-kind textile in excellent condition. Handwoven by a Maya Quiché woman, the blouse showcases traditional artistry passed down through generations.
The design is inspired by the huipiles of Santiago Atitlán, a village on the shores of Lake Atitlán, renowned for its symbolic weaving. Little birds in flight are delicately woven into the fabric, celebrating nature and Mayan heritage. Between the vibrant rows of color, you’ll find intricate decorative leno weave on a white cotton ground, adding both texture and depth.
Made of 100% handwoven cotton, this huipil is soft, breathable, and beautifully detailed. It’s a perfect collectible textilefor display, yet still wearable vintage clothing for festivals, boho styling, or as an artisan handmade blouse that honors Guatemalan tradition.
**Traditional Guatemalan huipiles are woven with small neck openings, as they were originally made to fit the artisan who wove and wore them. Because of this, the neckline may feel tight for a modern or Western fit. Many collectors and wearers simply make a small cut or adjustment at the neck to comfortably fit a larger head size, while still preserving the beauty of the blouse.
