Product Description
This authentic vintage huipil comes from San Juan Comalapa, a Guatemalan town celebrated for its vibrant artistry and distinctive weaving style. Featuring ablack background, velvet-lined collar and arm openings, and rich multicolor woven motifs, this piece beautifully represents the creative identity of Comalapa’s women weavers.
Each huipil is woven by hand on a traditional backstrap loom, a process that can take weeks or even months to complete. The colorful motifs are full of cultural meaning — symbols of heritage, spirituality, and artistic expression passed down through generations.
This huipil measures 30" across the shoulders and 22" from neckline to bottom edge, with a round neck opening measuring 22". The soft velvet trim adds comfort and elegance, making it as beautiful to wear as it is to display.
Beyond clothing, Guatemalan textiles like this huipil are versatile decor pieces. Use it as a wall hanging, table runner, or accent textile to bring warmth and cultural depth into your home. Each pattern tells a story — a living tapestry of Mayan identity and craftsmanship.
