Product Description
Handcrafted Haitian metal wall art titled “The Devil Made Me Do It” by artist Jean Robert Jacques. Known for his deeply rooted connection to Vodou culture, Jacques creates striking primitive sculptures that reflect Haiti’s spiritual traditions and artistic heritage.
Father of artist Roodlet Jacques and brother of sculptor Jean Garnier, Jean Robert has influenced many artists while maintaining a distinctly raw and expressive style of his own. His work often draws inspiration from Vodou symbolism and is crafted with a bold, primitive aesthetic that makes each piece captivating and unique.
This sculpture is handmade from recycled steel oil drums using traditional Haitian metalworking techniques developed in the 1950s. Each piece is individually cut, hammered, and finished by hand, giving every artwork its own character.
Suitable for indoor or outdoor display. The piece includes a protective coating; for outdoor use, applying a clear spray enamel once a year will help preserve the finish. Produced following fair trade practices that support Haitian artisans.
