Small businesses are important, they’re what keep the country moving. Fair trade is important because it helps businesses source products that are ethically and sustainably produced while giving consumers confidence that the artists behind the products they have purchase get a fair deal for their hard work. So why not support small businesses and Fair-Trade businesses, and even more so when it’s a small Fair-Trade business?
So, where do we start? No worries, we got some super easy ways to show support to your favorite businesses (including ours we hope!)
Supporting a small business doesn’t have to be a hard and daunting task. There are surprisingly simple ways to help and support small businesses. Some you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home! Here are a few ways you can support small businesses RIGHT NOW!
- 1. Shop small. A lot of small businesses are in our hometown, other of our favorites are available online. Regardless if you shop in person or online, shopping small businesses is a crucial way to help small businesses.
- 2. Don’t need anything for yourself or don’t know what to get someone else? Buy gift cards. Weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, holidays, or just because. Give the gift of a gift card and have friends and family purchase from your favorite small businesses!
- 3. Consider small before the big business. It’s true, you may be able to get an item cheaper at a big box store, but cheap comes at a cost. Plus, by shopping small business, you are helping people in your own community who are hustling day in and day out!
But not all of your support comes requires a purchase. Here are some other great ways to show your support to small businesses without spending a dime!
- 1. Follow small businesses on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest… basically hit that follow button wherever they are present in social media.
- 2. Get vocal on social media. Post pictures, tweets, and status updates of your favorite shops! Like, comment, and share posts. All it takes is a couple seconds to hit that like button or write something short and quick on the comment section, but it makes all the difference!
- 3. Write positive reviews! If you loved your purchase, let everyone know. Did you know that according to some statistics 82% of people trust online reviews as much as they trust recommendations from friends? Your opinion and your review matter!
