The wooden animal is carved in white pine and the colorful painted motifs are reminiscent of the brightly woven fabrics of the region.

 
These hand carved animals are made in the mountain village of Nahuala', Guatemala. The artisans of Nahuala' are famous for their handcarved altar tables, shrines, slingshots and animals.
