Folk art is rooted in traditions that come from community and culture - expressing cultural identity by conveying shared community values and aesthetics. It encompasses a range of utilitarian and decorative media, including cloth, wood, paper, clay, metal and more. These fantastic masks, made primarily for dances, parades and celebrations, are excellent examples of folk art expression in Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean.
