This extraordinary one-of-a-kind Haitian metal sculpture by Claudy Prophete is a wonderful example of the imagination and extraordinary detail that made his work so special.
Measuring an impressive 33.5" x 33.5", the piece depicts an underwater world filled with three large octopuses, tropical fish, coral, shells, and flowing sea life. Prophete transformed a sheet of recycled steel into an incredibly intricate composition, filling nearly every inch with hand-cut openwork and hand-tooled details. The curling octopus tentacles create wonderful movement throughout the entire sculpture.

We sadly lost Claudy Prophete this year, making the pieces he created especially meaningful to us. He was an amazing Haitian artist whose distinctive work demonstrated what can be achieved with recycled steel, simple hand tools, imagination, and remarkable skill. We feel fortunate to have worked with him and to be able to continue sharing his art.
