This breathtaking one-of-a-kind Haitian metal mermaid wall sculpture was created by artist Charles Eneld. Measuring approximately 34.5" x 34.5", the artwork features a graceful mermaid with long, flowing hair surrounded by waves, fish, starfish and intricate ocean details.
The impressive sculpture was created from the curved side of a repurposed 55-gallon steel oil barrel. Because art materials can be extremely difficult to obtain in Haiti, artists ingeniously transform what is available into extraordinary works of art. Only two sculptures of this scale can be cut from the side of a single barrel.
Charles cut, hammered and chiseled every detail entirely by hand. The mermaid’s textured scales, flowing hair and curling tail create beautiful movement, while the openwork allows the color of the wall to become part of the design.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind work of Haitian folk art. It cannot be duplicated, and you will receive the exact sculpture shown in the photograph.
