Product Description
Vintage Bolivian Tarabuco Poncho – Yamparáez Province, Chuquisaca – Handwoven Ethnic Textile (c. 1980s)
This poncho is in excellent vintage condition, especially considering its age. While it is “nearly new,” it was previously worn and loved, and may show minor signs of use consistent with authentic vintage textiles. These subtle imperfections add to its character, history, and uniqueness.
Authentic vintage Bolivian poncho from the Tarabuco region (Yamparáez Province, Chuquisaca), a culturally rich area southeast of Sucre known for its deeply rooted weaving traditions.
This striking piece features the iconic k’uychi (rainbow-striped) design worn by Tarabuco men. The colors and stripe patterns are not just decorative—they traditionally indicate the wearer’s place of origin within the region, making each poncho a unique cultural identifier.
